The Functional Foot Orthosis

The Functional Foot Orthosis by J.W. (Jim) Philps aims to provide a solid foundation for those wanting to develop their skills in this area of foot therapy which increasingly plays a major part in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders of the lower limb. The text and evaluation explains the examination process leading up to the decision on whether or not to use a foot orthosis. Different types of orthoses and their uses are described and illustrated. The practical aspects of making orthoses for individual patients (including choosing the appropriate materials for manufacture) are explained and illustrated on a step by step basis. Every foot is different so the therapist must be able to choose and manufacture or adapt the orthosis to fit the individual foot.
